You would think the booziest place in our state would be NYC, but one upstate city has claimed the crown of the drunkest in the state.

When it comes to binge drinking in New York, Kingston takes the crown! About an hour south of Albany on the Hudson, Kingston is apparently party central. According to 24/7 Wall Street, residents in Kingston love to imbibe, A LOT. According to the study, 25% of Kingston adults are binge or heavy drinkers. And Kingston not only ranks high locally - it's one of the drunkest cities in the nation. Here is what the article had to say about Kingston:

More than one in four adults living in the Kingston area report heavy or binge drinking, the highest share compared to the 11 other metro areas in New York, and one of the highest compared to all U.S. metro areas. By contrast, 17% of adults across the state report drinking excessively, slightly higher than the national proportion of 15%. The Kingston metro is located on the western shore of the Hudson River, just under two hours from New York City.
