As Bob Dylan once sang, "the times they are a changin'" and they most certainly are.

As we hit the halfway point of 2017, Stewart's Shops has made the announcement that they will be installing 100 charging stations for electric vehicles.

I was honestly beginning to wonder the popularity of the electric car seeing so few charging stations within the Capital Region. In fact the only that I recall are installed at Colonie Center Mall. I'm sure I'm wrong, but those stand out the most (maybe because I can never find a parking spot?)

Maria D'Amelia of Stewart's Shops states, "We really see that we have locations that provide that kind of way to be able to serve our customers as they travel in short distances as the electric vehicles evolve and become more popular in the coming years."

First things first though, the project needs to be approved by New York State Public Service Commission, even then it'll be a gradual process with no more than 20 being installed within their first year as popularity grows throughout the area.

I think it's cool that something so important to our environment is starting to gain notice right here locally. Hopefully this is the start of more businesses moving in the right direction!
