Albany- Six cases of Legionnaire’s disease have been linked to the Best Western Sovereign Hotel at 228 Western Avenue.  The guests who became ill stayed at the hotel between September and December.Tests were done on Monday and found above normal levels of the bacteria in the hotel’s water system.  Legionnaire’s is a severe form of pneumonia with symptoms including fever, chills, muscle aches and a high fever.

Bethlehem- The Geological Survey was on hand in the town of Bethlehem doing an engineering study last week.  The survey was done due to a potential slope failure on the site of the Hoffman’s Car Wash on Delaware Avenue.  In 2000, a landslide occurred right behind the building. Town engineers went onto to the property Friday to conduct a further study.  Hoffman’s closed shop pending the results.

Balitmore- A Delaware man heading to Albany was pulled aside at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport after a cattle prod was discovered in his carry on.  The man was cited after he surrendered the item Tuesday to TSA.  The 61-year old man was still able to board his flight to Albany despite originally having the unauthorized item in his bag.
