Grim Update on Thruway Crash

A sad update to a major story here in the Capital Region, as news comes from the New York State Police that two people perished in the horrific rollover crash on Thursday morning.

According to a press release by the NYSP, the investigation determined that a tractor-trailer traveling northbound struck the concrete barrier separating northbound from southbound traffic.

The collision, according to the New York State Police, "caused the tractor-trailer to overturn onto a northbound passenger vehicle. The driver of the tractor-trailer and a passenger of the other car were transported to Albany Medical Center."

Two People Sadly Lost Their Lives

The report stated that the passenger in the tractor-trailer, Sabrina D. Bermudez, 50, of Ludlow, MA, and the driver of the other vehicle, Paul Kelley, 64, of Rockville Centre, NY, succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The vehicle passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged. The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered severe injuries and remained in stable but critical condition at the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
