As get ready for two huge, sold-out shows with Luke Combs in Albany, lets take a walk down memory lane when we spent a night with him in Clifton Park.

I think "meteoric rise" is definitely an accurate description of Luke Combs ascension to Country music superstar. We saw the beginnings of that back in February of 2018 when I absolutely begged his team to have him come up and perform at our annual St. Jude benefit concert at Upstate Concert Hall.

We knew Luke was well on his way to superstardom and a case full of CMA trophies, and lucky for us like any Country artist once Luke heard the show was to benefit the kids of St. Jude, he was in and I didn't need to beg anymore! We knew it would be a great night for the research hospital, and for local Country fans.

Luke Combs Shows Of His Will Ferrell Movie Knowledge

Now, before Luke even got to perform that night, we quickly learned what a great guy he is and how much fun he is to hang around with. We started the night backstage catching up with the budding superstar and putting his love and knowledge of Will Ferrell movies to the test in the interview below!

Luke Combs Then Owned the Stage And Wowed GNA Nation

Now we had a lot of fun getting to know Luke, but the real magic started when he took the stage for his acoustic set. When Luke performed on that winter evening in Clifton Park back in February of 2018, he had already had 2 #1 hits under his belt with "Hurricane" and "When It Rains It Pours," and he had just released his next #1 "One Number Away."

\We quickly saw why he was having such early success: his powerful voice and stage persona are something to see, and we got a great glimpse of both that night! Even in an acoustic setting, the raw power of Luke's voice and songs was something to witness in person.

We saw back then Luke Combs had what it took to become Country's next big superstar, and it was so cool for us at GNA and our listeners at this show to be a part of his early journey on his way to winning Country's most prestigious awards like the CMA for Entertainer of the Year and selling out multiple nights at the Capital Region's biggest arena.
