Jess Experiences The Landing Hotel for Schenectady’s Hotel Week

Have you ever tried a staycation in your hometown? In preparation for Schenectady's hotel week, I had the opportunity to stay at a local hotel and in a couple weeks, you can, too!

Discover Schenectady and the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corp are hosting Hotel Week in Schenectady on February 16th-20th. For that week, you get great deals and discounts at not only local hotels but at other local Schenectady businesses as well!

This past Friday, I had the chance to stay at The Landing at Rivers Casino on Mohawk Harbor for the very first time. The hotel is located just across the hall from the entrance to the casino itself. The room was fantastic and the view of the Mohawk River is beautiful any time of year. What's great about this hotel is how close it is to Downtown Schenectady and how easily accessible it is via the Schenectady CDTA trolley.

For hotel week, The Landing is offering two separate packages. One, is a king room at $123.45/night, plus $20 resort credit for two nights minimum. If you're a family, they have a second offer which includes an overnight room, breakfast for four, four tickets to the ViaPort Aquarium, four movie tickets to BowTie Cinemas, and transportation to the aquarium and movie theater for $123.45/night.

The following week, I had an amazing experience at The Inn at Glen Sanders Mansion. The rooms in this historic building are breathtaking. There are tons of people who wait to plan their wedding at this venue and you could be staying there at a discount for just $99/night all week. They have a bar right inside of the space, an adorable breakfast nook in the morning and the views of the Mohawk are fantastic.

• Hampton Inn Schenectady is offering $125/night rooms all week

The best part of staying at a hotel in Schenectady is either to experience the city that is so close to you that you may not have at the opportunity to explore or, have a great staycation and look at your city under a different light. There are so many great things to experience in Schenectady in walking distance or just a short drive from each of these hotels.

There are a ton of bars and restaurants, a great number of newer breweries, a show or two at Proctors, and, in my opinion, the best Italian food you'll find in the entire Capital Region. During hotel week, with a room, you get a discount on the show "Fiddler on the Roof" at Proctors, an opportunity to get a free Schenectady souvenir, discounts on books, and more!

From The Landing in particular, they have events of their own, like on Saturday March 7th, The Landing Hotel is hosting a Little Black Dress Party at the event center from 7:00pm-11:00pm, featuring DJ KStones, food, and shopping with local vendors. Tickets on sale now, $20 in advance and $30 at the door. Of course, there's also Rivers Casino for a great night out and that's without even having to leave the building! Schenectady is the place to hang out in the Capital Region.
