Fair Season Is Here! Saratoga County Fair Begins Today

Fair season begins today with the Saratoga County Fair gearing up for a week packed with tradition, entertainment, and plenty of fun.

This year's fair runs from July 21st through July 26th and embraces a patriotic theme, "Liberty, Land, and Legacy," in honor of America's 250th birthday. The goal is to celebrate the country's agricultural roots with the attractions and entertainment fairgoers have come to love over the years.

What Can We Expect?

Admission is $15 at the gate for anyone 13 and older, although advance tickets are available online through the fair's website.

According to Saratoga County Agricultural Society President Tim Welch,

This year's event is designed to bring people together and create a shared experience for families and friends. He says the fair offers a chance to step away from screens and spend time enjoying local traditions, agriculture, and community. Whether visitors are checking out the new Fiber Celebration, watching livestock competitions, or cheering during the demolition derbies, there will be something happening around every corner.

What Is Happening For Opening Day?

Opening Day on Tuesday, July 21st, starts with a ceremony featuring local leaders, a militia color guard, a musket salute, and one of the most important fair staples of all, apple pie.

History buffs can meet a colonial-era bookbinder and learn how books, newspapers, and printing helped shape early America. Visitors can also watch a demonstration of traditional paper marbling techniques.

Agriculture takes center stage with the County Draft Horse Show, the 4-H Goat Show, and the 4-H Swine Show. Master Gardeners will also be on hand to answer questions.

The night wraps up with the always popular Demolition Derby, performances by The Flying Wallendas, the Saratoga County Fair Pageant, live music, and the debut of new midway rides.
