Saratoga County Restaurant Expanding Louisiana Charm to Downtown Albany
A popular Saratoga County Louisiana-style restaurant and music venue is bringing another location into downtown Albany.
What Restaurant is Expanding into Downtown Albany?
Ten years ago, Shane Spillenger opened a Louisiana-themed restaurant and music venue in Malta called Nanola. The name comes from the nanotech industry at GlobalFoundries which is nearby coupled with NOLA which stands for New Orleans, Louisiana. He is now expanding into downtown Albany.
Where is The New Location in Downtown Albany?
The new location will be in the former Parish Public House at 388 Broadway in downtown Albany.
What Will The New Location Offer?
Shane Spillenger told the Times Union that this new location won't be exactly like Nanola in Malta but will be similar. The focus will be on the Albany community. They will call it Nanola South and offer quick-serve options for lunch and people attending concerts at nearby MVP Arena.
Nanola South Will Be Different
The plan is to upgrade the music venue at the back of the building, creating a separate identity called the Bayou Backroom. This space will accommodate banquets, private events, live-streamed sports, and concerts, in addition to music performances.
Nanola South aims to continue supporting emerging bands, serving as a stepping stone for them, and maintaining the tradition of the venue as a place for up-and-coming acts to make their Albany debut.
Nanola South hopes to open in December but looks as if it may be more toward early to the middle of January.
