Return of the Arts: Broadway Coming Back To Proctor’s
As we look ahead to the rest of 2021, arts and entertainment events will continue to be repopulating our local calendars.
It was a great sign today when we announced our first, new big Country show in over a year with the Brothers Osborne tour setting an Albany date. Now, it is another indicator that arts will be making a big comeback as the year goes on.
According to a CBS 6 story, Proctors announced their slate of Broadway shows will return in December. Proctors CEO Philip Morris told CBS the timing for the Broadway shows, which usually begin in the fall, will be ideal as they expect capacity limits for indoor audiences should "...be able to return to full capacity by December..." which will make these shows more feasible from a financial standpoint. This is most likely one of the reasons we have not seen many Country concert announcements this summer as low capacity limits are most likely forcing promoters to hold off on doing any shows. While it is safe for smaller audiences to attend, the economics of doing big productions with small audiences does not add up.
The Proctor's slate of Broadway shows, which is posted on their website, will kick off with "Summer- The Donna Summer Musical" December 7th to 12th, "Cats," "My Fair Lady," "Pretty Woman: The Musical" and many more will come to life on the Proctor's stage in the Broadway season ahead.
And her - if Broadway is set to return to Proctor's, GNA's Secret Star Acoustic Jam could be close to making a comeback too, right? :)
