On the heels of Big Lots announcing it would close all its stores, Party City has announced it's going out of business.

When it comes to national store bankruptcies and closings, 2024 will not let up.

On the heels of Big Lots announcing yesterday it would close all its stores nationwide, Party City has announced it's going out of business and will be doing the same.

Party City Closing Stores Nationwide

According to a CNN report, earlier today CEO Barry Litwin revealed to the Party City corporate team that the national party supply chain would start "...'winding down' operations immediately and that today will be their last day of employment."

CNN says Party City claimed bankruptcy last January but despite exiting bankruptcy a few months was still struggling with massive debt.

Party City is known for selling a variety of party supplies like balloons, decorations, costumes, and more. The 4 stores that will be closing in the Captial Region include:

  • Crossgates Commons - Albany
  • The Crossings - Clifton Park
  • Latham Farms Center
  • Mohawk Commons - Schenectady

No target date for store closures has been announced at this time.

A flurry of closings and national chain bankruptcies have been announced over the last few months which have affected many in the area.
