Once Legendary Saratoga Bar Approved to Become Chipotle Restaurant
Earlier this year, it was announced that there was a possibility of a Chipotle Mexican Grill coming to Saratoga Springs. We heard about this months ago and wondered what was happening with this proposal. We just got word that the Saratoga Chipotle is a go!
Where Will the New Chipotle Be Built?
The location is at 12 Ballston Ave (Route 50) in Saratoga Springs.
Locals know this building as the old site of the Gaslight Lounge. In 2009 it was sold and the Starting Gate Bar & Grill opened. When it closed in 2013, it stayed vacant for some time before becoming an Irish sports-themed bar called Paddy Duggan's Irish Pub. It was open for a short time and then also moved out.
Paddy Duggan's moved out in 2015 and no other business has moved in. Now the existing building will be leveled to make way for Chipotle Mexican Grill. Chipotle will be about 2300 square feet.
During the November 30th Saratoga Springs Planning Board meeting, the new Chipotle plans were approved with some conditions. The easement must be filed, reviewed, and approved. Once this is done, the building permit will be issued.
The plans call for twenty-three parking spaces, an entrance off of Ballston Avenue, and another one off of Hamilton Street.
This will be the eleventh location in the Capital Region and the first in Saratoga Springs. There are Chipotles in Latham, Wilton, Clifton Park, Albany, Glenmont, Glenville, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Amsterdam, and Queensbury.
