News You Need to Know Near Albany

Massachusetts - A 26-year old man from Massachusetts has been arrested and charged with plotting an attack on the Pentagon.  According to authorities, Rezwan Ferdaus, a U.S. citizen with a physics degree from Northeastern University, planned to use a $6,500 model aircraft filled with C-4 plastic explosives. He was charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to al Qaeda for attack on U.S. soldier overseas. 

Cohoes - A home invasion occurred in Cohoes on Monday.  Five intruders broke into a home located at 334 Pleasant Street around 6:50pm.  A family member stabbed and subdued one of the intruders with a kitchen knife, until police arrived.  18-year old Matthew Joe of Averill Park is now in Albany County Jail.  However, the other four suspects are still at large. 

Albany - Nine restaurants reported burglaries Tuesday and all located in Albany.  The Orchard Tavern, Lynn’s Uptown Tavern, Capital Q Restaurant and Kentucky Fried Chicken on Delaware Avenue were just a few of those businesses.  The suspect or suspects broke into the eaterys by crawling through unlocked windows, according to police.  Anyone who has information is urged to call police at 518-462-8039.
