Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill today that will slowly raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour.

According to News 6, Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton joined Cuomo at a New York City rally earlier today to recognize the law with labor leaders and workers. Cuomo says the new law will grow the economy and improve lives in the state.

New York City will hit the new minimum wage mark in 2018, followed by more 'prosperous' suburbs by 2021. By 2020, the wage will only rise to $12.50 for the rest of the state.

The state of California also enacted similar legislation today, and Clinton feels it will become the norm in the country.

The new law will also establish paid family leave for New York workers.
