We heard about a year and a half ago Legoland was making plans to build a New York theme park and resort, and those plans were made official last week!

According to a Daily News story, Legoland will open a new theme park and resort in Goshen, New York in 2020. Goshen is about 60 miles North of New York City, and about 110 miles from Albany. And this is going to be pretty impressive! Plans say the park will be 170 acres!

If you are not familiar with the Legolnad theme parks, their website says the park is intended for families with kids aged 2-12 and describes the parks as '...bursting with interactive family rides, live shows, building workshops, and amazing attractions, including awe-inspiring Miniland areas reflecting iconic buildings and attractions from the Resort location – all built using the iconic LEGO® brick.' 170 acres of Legos? That's  a lot of Legos.

The Daily News says the park still has some legal and approval hurdles locally to meet the 2020 target.
