October 5th is World Teachers Day, and when it comes to the best states for teachers to work, New York is near the top.

Wallethub recently did a study to determine the best and worst states for teachers, and New York landed very high on the list - #7! Ranking is based on various factors including income, pupil to teacher ration, and public school spending per student.

What it boils down to is New York is a pretty attractive state to work as a teacher, and you have to assume this brings the best teachers to the state. Some of our neighbors rank pretty high on the list as well: New Jersey landed at #1 and Massachusetts at #2.

And if you are wondering how this study translates to our students, when it comes to how much is spent in New York per student, New York ranks at #2 behind only Vermont. So yes, we do pay high taxes, but it is good to know funds are being used for the benefit of our children.
