With colder weather upon us, New York will once again be offering heating assistance for qualified New Yorkers.

Governor Hochul Announces Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)

Thankfully for those living on a tight budget, there is some winter relief from high heating bills.

Governor Hochul announced today the return of the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) which will offer up to $1000 to lower energy costs for qualified households during the colder months.

Last winter, $397 million in HEAP benefits were issued to New Yorkers for eating assistance

Who Qualifies For HEAP Benefits?

According to the Governor's office HEAP benefits are available based on monthly income. For example, a family of 4 can have a max monthly income of $6,390 to be eligible for assistance. The full monthly income guidelines can be seen here.
