New Poke Bar Opening in Downtown Troy Will Be 3rd One For Owner
Get ready downtown, Troy. It's your turn to get a specialty take-out restaurant. A new poke bar will be opening up soon. The Troy spot will be number three for this Capital Region poke bar owner.
Who Owns the Poke Bars in the Capital Region?
Will Phan is opening up his third location. He said that when he went on a trip to Hawaii, he was inspired to open poke bars in Los Angeles. He had success on the West Coast and decided to move back to New York, where he had attended UAlbany, to introduce the area to poke bars. He already has two locations and would be opening his third in Troy.
Where Are The Other Poke Bar Locations?
There is a poke bar on Lark Street in Albany but Phan says that parking for that location is tricky.
His second location is on Albany Shaker Road in Loudonville in a strip mall. Phan says this location has plenty of parking.
Phan also said that it is easier to open a strictly take-out restaurant. This way there isn't a high overhead and you can hire college students without worrying about the formal aspect of a sit-down restaurant according to the Albany Business Review.
Where Will The Downtown Troy Location Be?
Phan plans on opening River Street Poke Bar in the fall. He has purchased the entire building at 184 River Street in Troy and is currently renovating it into the space he needs. This location will mainly be take-out but he will have some tables for customers that will accommodate about 8-10 people.
Will Phan doesn't have any intention of slowing down. He plans on continuing to open more poke bars across the Capital Region and beyond. In fact, he wants to get into the Hudson area next year.
