New Berkshires Amtrak Rail Service To Launch Next Month
Rail service will soon be available from New York City to the Berkshires via Albany.
Since we are in New York it is only natural to focus on the beauty and splendor of the Adirondacks or the Catskills when talking about the great natural destinations we have right here in our backyard. But, we also have a third amazing mountain destination to our east and you will soon have a new way to make your way there.
The Berkshires in Western Massachusetts are also known for their natural beauty and just like our New York mountain ranges, there is so much to see and do It is simply another amazing area full of nature and history to explore. Starting July 8th, you will be able to make your way there on the rails.
According to a press release Amtrak, they will launch its Berkshire Flyer line on July 8th with service being offered between New York City and Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Just like all the trains that make their way through Upstate New York, Albany will be one of the stops on the with the familiar stops of Yonkers, Croton-Harmon, Poughkeepsie, Rhinecliff, and Hudson on the way up from New York City.
To start, this service will only operate on weekends with one trip from New York City to Pittsfield on Fridays and a return trip on Sundays. Amtrak says this is a pilot test service this year and in 2023 to determine if it will become a permanent connection between the Big Apple, Albany, and Pittsfield.
Tickets for the new service are on sale now through the Amtrak website.
