Miranda Lambert Tapped as Music Producer for New Film
Miranda Lambert is expanding her talents into new territories. Lambert has signed on to be the executive music producer for the upcoming comedy film, Something in the Water.
Deadline reports that the film was co-written by Trey Fanjoy and takes place in the south where five women challenge their significant others to a bass fishing competition. In addition to taking the lead on music curation, the country star is also set to write an original song for the film. The song, whose title is currently unknown, will have a worldwide release along with the movie that stars comedian and YouTube star Grace Helbig. Casting and production will take place in Nashville later in 2017.

The "Tin Man" singer got the gig through her multiple collaborations with Fanjoy, who's directed several music videos for country artists like Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire and more. Fanjoy has directed many of Lambert's hit videos including her early hit "Kerosene," the fiery "Fastest Girl in Town," her fierce duet with Carrie Underwood on "Somethin' Bad" and even her signature hit, "The House That Built Me."
“Strong, amazing women are at the heart of this story and they’re also at the center of this film creatively. Grace is in the zone comedically and at the top of her game and so is Miranda, artistically and musically," Fancy says in a press release. "I’m thrilled to have so many wonderful creative collaborators.”
The country music superstar was recently announced as one of the performers for the 2017 CMT Music Awards along with Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge and Thomas Rhett. She's also set to headline the 2017 Taste of Country Music Festival in June.
