Million Dollar Lottery Winners Come Forward

They kept their lottery prize to themselves, and just recently came forward as they were ready to cash in their $1 million Mega-Millions lottery ticket.

Erin and Raleigh Hill of North Carolina kept their ticket hidden away for about 6 months, until Tuesday, when they knew they had to face all the craziness that would follow. According to some lottery officials, they drove to Raleigh to claim the Mega Million prize as it was set to expire at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Erin and Raleigh each received a lump sum of $340,000 after taxes. The business that sells the winning ticket also receives money. In this case it’s $10,000.
