Local Parade to Celebrate the Season and Honor Our Veterans This Weekend

I grew up in Mechanicville and we used to have parades for every holiday. We would march in the band and represent the high school, there would be floats, vendors, and local sports teams. I am happy to announce that the Mechanicville-Stillwater Chamber of Commerce is bringing back a special parade.

Mechanicville is set to host its first Veterans Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 5 p.m., marking the start of a new tradition honoring veterans and celebrating the season.

Organized by the Mechanicville-Stillwater Chamber of Commerce, the event will take place along a festive route beginning at 9 Industrial Park Road and winding through downtown Mechanicville. The celebration aims to honor the service and sacrifices of local veterans while embracing the holiday spirit.

The parade will feature marching bands, decorated floats, and patriotic tributes to veterans, bringing together community members and families for a memorable evening.

A particular highlight for children and families is the special appearance of Santa Claus, who will add to the holiday cheer and kick off the season’s festivities. Local vendors are invited to participate, adding to the parade's festive atmosphere by offering refreshments, crafts, and seasonal gifts.

Spectators can enjoy the colorful procession as it travels through Third Avenue, Park Avenue, and Broadway, before looping back to Industrial Drive for the grand finale.

Community members are encouraged to attend, show support for veterans, and welcome the holiday season with this new annual tradition.
