When you kid gets up for school in the morning, have you ever thought that maybe it's too early for them? If you do, there are some local school districts that agree with you and are looking to do something about it.

Start times for schools themselves are particularly terrible but in order to get ready and catch the bus, kids are getting up as early at 5:30-6:00 am to make sure they get to school on time. The Times Union mentioned that there have been many studies that prove a later start time and giving adolescents the ability to sleep in is better for their age range.

Local districts Guilderland, Niskayuna, East Greenbush and Bethlehem have started the conversation about changing the school's start time to something that is more conducive for an adolescent body clock. Their reasoning is that a "growing body of evidence that teens who sleep more perform better in school and are less prone to obesity, depression and injury."

The school districts have noted that transportation is a big hurdle in these changes and they're hoping to work with the buses to come up with a schedule that works with everyone.
