Kyle Busch Sweeps Martinsville – Race Update
This Sunday’s NASCAR race at Martinsville did not disappoint!
In case you missed the race this weekend, we have a full recap for you!
Kyle Busch dominated this track all weekend. Completing the weekend “sweep,” Busch held off a determined AJ Almindinger to win on Sunday. Busch led 352 laps to win the race for the first time in his 31 starts.
The trouble started early for other drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr. spun out early but was able to recover and keep racing. He would up in the front, as high as top 5, before the last caution. He ended up 14th. Denny Hamlin hit the wall hard mid race ending his attempt at back to back wins. Hamlin won last year at Martinsville.
I can’t not talk about AJ Almindinger. He raced like it was his last race ever out there. It was great as a NASCAR fan to watch. He joked after the race about how he passed Jimmie Johnson so many times! "I passed Jimmie Johnson like five times at Martinsville; that's pretty cool!" —AJ Allmendinger. I am glad to see him do so well! Currently, he is 12th in the standings!
Kyle's biggest problem now is trying to figure out how to fit 2 Grandfather clocks in his car.
Next week is a Saturday night race – Texas Motor Speedway! Who will win it?
