Kane Brown’s Drummer, Kenny Dixon, Dies in Car Accident
Kenny Dixon, the drummer for Kane Brown's touring band, died Saturday (Oct. 12) at the age of 27 as a result of a car accident. Dixon, a longtime member of Brown's ensemble, leaves behind a fiancee, Sarah Hedrick, and young son, Levi.
Brown's team shared the following statement:
"It is with profound sadness and disbelief that we confirm we lost our drummer Kenny this weekend in a tragic car accident. Kenny was a member of our family from the very beginning and our hearts are with his fiancé Sarah, his son, and everyone who knew and loved him. He was truly one of the greatest and kindest people on and off stage we’ve ever known.”
Dixon's obituary at the Ponders Funeral Home shares that he died at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville on Saturday. Brown himself took to Instagram on Sunday to share the news and grieve with fans.
"Love you so much dude!!! You started all of this with me from the start in 2015 when no body else believed we would make it out of Chattanooga playing for 500 people and your last show was in a Fn Stadium my guy," he says in a post on Instagram. "I know u will be watching over us with that red neck [sic] accent that we all love and you will never be replaced bro!!! I promise u that!!"
Hedrick also shared a post mourning her fiance, whom she was set to wed in November. She asked for prayers for her son and both sides of the familyy.
The news, sadly, coincides with Brown's first wedding anniversary, which also took place on Oct. 12. Brown is scheduled to play Los Angeles's Staples Center on Oct. 18. There is no word yet as to whether the show will be canceled.
