Jason Aldean Donates Big Bucks for Breasts During Concert for the Cure in New Orleans
Friday (Oct. 25) marked Jason Aldean's 8th annual Concert for the Cure in New Orleans, and this time, the singer wrote his biggest donation check to date.
As a result of the 2013 event, Aldean donated a whopping $575,826 to help fight breast cancer. He has been raising money throughout the course of his tour -- for every ticket sold, the singer collected 50 cents for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and this year's recipient for the money was a local New Orleans chapter.
"Tonight's as much about celebrating those that beat the disease as it is remembering those that didn't," Aldean told the crowd.
The 'Night Train' singer started his now-annual Concert for the Cure in Nashville several years ago. At that first show, he donated $40,000. Needless to say, he's happy with his progress since then.
Aldean presented the giant check during the encore of his New Orleans performance. “New Orleans needs this money as badly as anyone right now,” he told the crowd. "I can’t tell you how happy I am to give them this check! Like pretty much everyone I know, I’ve lost someone I love to breast cancer and I don’t want anyone else to have to go through that."
Trying to keep the evening lighthearted, he added: "For all you ladies out there -- we love the rack … save ‘em, alright!”
The singer will return to the road for more tour dates in January 2014.
