The Today Show Scheduled to Visit This Upstate New York Village This Week
Have you ever been on television? If you live in Central New York or the Capital Region you will get the opportunity to have your face seen on National TV as the Today Show arrives in this legendary Upstate village.
NBC's "Today" has a segment called "Merriest Main Street" where they search for the American town with the most Christmas spirit. Now is the time to show up and cheer on this little town known more for Summer than Santa but we have a real shot.
According to Syracuse.com, the "Today" show will arrive in Cooperstown, New York for a live broadcast this Friday December 22nd. Cameras will be rolling from 6:45am until 8:25am.
The Village of Cooperstown is in the running for "Merriest Main Street" along with towns such as Steubenville Ohio, Georgetown Colorado and Essex Connecticut. TODAY will team up with Utica's WKTV News Channel 2 and they want to see YOU.
You are encouraged to bring posters illustrating your New York State pride and your love for Cooperstown. Dress for the cold as temperatures are forecasted to be between 18 degrees and 35 degrees under sunny skies. Here is a potential timeline for Friday December 22nd:
- 6:45 am - Crowd arrival expected
- Possible live "teaser" shots start at 7:30am
- Follow-up "teaser" shots expected at 7:40, 7:55 and 8:10
- Today broadcast will be live from 8:20 to 8:25
- Hoda Kotbe and Savannah Guthrie are not expected to be in Cooperstown
