Initial ticket prices to see Metallica in Connecticut start at around $1000 per ticket via secondary ticket outlets.

Earlier this week Metallica announced 2 intimate shows to take place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. This special engagement is part of the Mohegan Sun Casino 25th Anniversary celebration. Can the average fan afford to see one of these shows?

Mohegan Sun Arena has fewer than 10,000 seats available for most concerts. Let's say an artist has a guaranteed fee of $500,000. If you use this basic formula, ticket prices could be set at $50 each, plus fees.

I would guess that Metallica has a much higher guarantee than $500,000. Combine that with the extremely high demand of a Metallica concert and a venue approximately 80% smaller than where they usually play. Ticket prices will not be cheap. Supply and demand.

Fan Club pre-sale tickets for these Mohegan Sun shows went on sale Wednesday. Some tickets are already available on TickPick, a secondary marketplace for tickets, with the cheapest ticket starting around $800 behind the stage, and $3200 side of stage for the November 19th show.

These 2 Metallica shows are part of their "No-Repeat Weekend" tradition of not repeating any songs over the two concerts. With that in mind, 2-day passes are available between $2100 and $4300 per ticket, via TickPick.

To give you some contrast, the Metallica residency at Sphere in Las Vegas will cost the average fan approximately $500 per ticket via TickPick, but there are more than 20 shows to choose from.
