Popular Stewart’s Shops Store Closing in Upstate New York
If you're a regular at one popular Stewart's Shops location in Upstate New York, it's time to start planning a new stop for your morning coffee or ice cream run.

Stewart's Shops Closing Store in Halfmoon, NY
One of Stewart's Shops' longtime Upstate New York locations is officially closing its doors this weekend. According to WTEN, the Stewart's Shops on Route 9 in Halfmoon, NY will permanently close on Sunday, July 26th, 2026. The company said the tough decision wasn't made because of a lack of customers. Instead, the property simply couldn't be expanded to meet the needs of today's larger Stewart's stores.
Over the last several years, Stewart's has been building bigger locations that offer expanded food options, more beverages, additional services, and improved parking. Company officials said the Halfmoon location no longer had room to grow and keep up with those newer standards.

Yes, it stinks that this location is closing, but Stewart's still has a huge footprint across New York. The company operates more than 400 shops throughout New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire, including more than 40 locations across the Hudson Valley, so chances are there's another Stewart's just a few minutes down the road.

Stewart's is also getting ready to open a brand-new location on Mohawk Street in Cohoes, NY next month. Employees from the closing Halfmoon store are expected to transfer to the new location, meaning customers will likely see some familiar faces behind the counter.
While it's always disappointing to see a neighborhood Stewart's close, the company says it's continuing to invest in newer, larger stores across the region.
