20 Dogs Rescued From Hording Situation in The Hudson Valley

Take Me Home Pet Rescue recently led an effort to rescue several dogs from a hording situation in the Hudson Valley.

With the help of other organization, Take Me Home Pet Rescue was able to save 20 dogs, living in horrible conditions, from a single family home.

In a press release TMHPR writes "The dogs were living amid strong odors of urine, damaged furniture, with many animals that had never worn a leash, used a crate, or spent time outside."

They add that within the 20 dogs were 2 "“accidental” litters of puppies: 6 around 7 months old, and 12 just 5 weeks old."

A sad update about some of the puppies found at the scene, TMH shares:

One puppy in the younger litter had already died, and 11 were found crowded together in a single crate.

Take Me Home Pet Rescue explains that they didn't have the space or resources to take in all 20 dogs.

With that being said, the team at TMH knew they couldn't leave the pups in this situation. So, they called in reinforcements.

Local HV Dog Organizations Take in Rescue Pups

Several local rescue organizations stepped up to help with rehoming the 20 dogs found at the scene.

TMH shared in the statement that they don't "see other rescues or shelters as competition."

They needed additional support removing the "6 teenage dogs" so they reached out to Hudson Paws Dog Rescue, Dutchess County SPCA and The Incredible Pups Pet Rescue.

Hudson Paws and Dutchess County SPCA took 3 dogs, The Incredible Pups took 5 of the younger dogs and Happy Life Animal Rescue also took in some dogs to help them find their forever homes.

How You Can Help Rescued Dogs Find Their Forever Homes

As you have read, there's a lot that goes into rescuing and rehoming these dogs. And with that comes hefty bills.

Any pet owner will tell you, vet bills can get expensive.

Take Me Home Pet Rescue writes in their statement that they continue to "seek donations to help cover the cost of veterinary care, vitamins and supplements, puppy formula, and food for the animals" still in their care.
