Arena football's Albany hiatus was a short one.

If you were super disappointed after the Albany Empire folded in 2019, this is awesome news.

The Times Union is reporting today sources have confirmed the National Arena League plans on bringing a team to Albany. The Times Union Center is having a press conference this Thursday where they are expected to announce the new team and a 3-year lease deal with the arena. No one from the new team or the arena has commented on tomorrow's press conference, but Orlando Predators co-owner Ron Tridico told the Times Union “The fans should be happy tomorrow." Predators ownership will also own the new team coming to Albany.

This is great news for football fans in Albany. The Albany Empire provided great family entertainment that was affordable, and you have to imagine the new team will bring the same. Hopefully by the time this new team is ready to take the field we are past the pandemic and ready to safely gather for some football!
