Is This Sign Really Legal in Troy? Can You Really Do This? [PHOTO]
Traffic laws are so interesting to me. I'm a licensed driver but every so often I find something and think to myself "Wait, that's legal?" and that was the case with this picture from Troy.
I'm lucky in Schenectady, it's like we have a parking garage or parking lot every few blocks downtown. It makes it even more frustrating when I travel to Albany or Troy and want to park somewhere but have to drive around for a few minutes before I can find a spot. I think to myself how I can't imagine having to live there and do that every day.
I found this picture on the Troy Reddit of a sign that said "Residents and Guests Parking Only, Violators will be Towed at Owner's Expense. Troy Code 270-20F." Wait, so you can get a sign in front of your house that makes it so only residents and guests can park there? Why aren't there more of these signs in the Capital Region?
According to the code referenced:
F. Parking in front of residences. No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle, motor vehicle or motorcycle in front of any residence, outside of the Central Business District, for any purpose except to discharge passengers or deliver merchandise to such residence, nor longer than actually necessary for such purpose, except with the consent of the owner or occupant of such residence. The owner or operator of any vehicle, motor vehicle or motorcycle which shall stop, stand or park in front of any such residence shall move such vehicle, motor vehicle or motorcycle therefrom immediately upon being notified to do so by the owner or occupant of such residence.
This is really a thing? Are there more of these around the Capital Region I should look out for?
