Is It Lame For Men To Use Smiley Faces/Emoticons While Texting – Daily Dilemma

"I've been going out with my guy for about four-months now and we text each other all the time.  He does something no guy I've ever dated does:  he uses a lot of smiley faces and emoticons in his texts all the time.
And actually, he doesn't only use them in text messages -- he uses them in Facebook and Twitter messages, too.  For some reason, I think it seems kind of girly for guys to use emoticons.  I know they're trying to convey an emotion, but still, it's a little feminine.  Do other guys out there use emoticons when they text?  Or is it too girly?"
