One of the best local events we have each year in the Capital Region is the Section II high school basketball Sectionals at both Hudson Valley Community College and The Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls.  The girls played at HVCC while the boys played in Glens Falls.  I was in the house all day Saturday with my son Brady.  It was an awesome and exciting atmosphere as we saw Mekeel Christian take down Gloversville, Green Tech defeat CBA, and the best moment in my opinion, Ichabod Crane beating Catholic Central 51-50 in a thriller.  Here is my quick take on the Ichabod Crane win on Saturday as seen in the Times Union:

The best story from Championship Saturday in Glen Falls was watching Ichabod Crane win their first Sectional Title since 1963. It was a great game to watch against a young and talented CCHS team, but the difference was Brett Richards. The Senior Forward for the Riders did it all for his team. Richards led his team in scoring and rebounding, which he has done all season long. He’s been a double-double machine for Ichabod Crane. He also won the MVP, which was well deserved.

Michael Johnson Jr. and I had a great interview with the Ichabod Crane boys basketball head coach Will Ferguson today at 11:30.  He was awesome and is still really excited after their historic win and sectional title.  Below is our full interview with Coach Ferguson.

I love when the whole community gets behind a certain school.  The Ichabod Crane community was so supportive of the boys team the entire season.  Even law enforcement showed their love in parade.  Seeing all of the signs and posters in Glens Falls on Saturday made my day.  Congratulations to Will Ferguson and Ichabod Crane on their historic win.  We continue to love local here on Big Board Sports.
