How to Make Your Furniture Safe for Senior Pets

This week, Dr. Patrick tells us how to make sure your furniture is safe for your pets as they get older.

Even if your pet loved jumping on and off the couch (and you didn't mind them being up there!) when they were younger, they are going to have a much harder time when they get older. It can even be dangerous for them to get on and off furniture that they were using for most of their lives. Keep these tips in mind to help make sure your furniture is as safe as possible for your senior pets.

• Senior pets should not be jumping on and off furniture.
• It can cause injury to their legs or back or cause arthritis in some animals.
• Give your pets smaller furniture that they can get on without jumping or make sure they have ramps or stairs to allow them to access furniture they are allowed on.
