Where did the name Albany come from?
Well for our Albany here in New York, the city was named after "...the Duke of York's Scottish title, "Duke of Albany" in 1664 when the English took control of the area" according to Discover Albany. Some of the other Albany's have their own unique story to tell. For example, Albany, California is actually named after Albany, NY. According to the city's website their first Mayor, Frank Roberts was actually from here - and their Albany was named in honor of him.
