High Alert! How To Tell If Your Kids’ Halloween Candy Is Cannabis
The best part of Halloween is taking in a huge haul of candy. But make sure you are on high alert. Some of the candy that your kids get may not be what it seems. Many look similar to cannabis edibles.
This Halloween, be aware that many cannabis products (such as edibles) look similar to regular products like candy. This image from the Saratoga County Health Department depicts some of the cannabis candy that looks similar to the real candy. This will help you know the difference.
When heading out for trick-or-treating on Halloween, it’s important to keep safety in mind, especially when it comes to candy. Stick to commercially packaged, unopened treats from well-known brands, as these are generally the safest options. Homemade treats might seem fun, but it’s best to avoid them unless you know the source well.
If you’re supervising young children, keep a close eye on them as they gather their loot especially when sorting through it afterward. Go through their candy together, and if you come across anything questionable, remember: when in doubt, throw it out! This way, you can enjoy the holiday fun with peace of mind.
If you suspect accidental poisoning, call the Upstate New York Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222.
