For 15 years a tradition here in the Capital Region is the stroll through Washington Park to see the Christmas lights. The 15th annual "Hannaford Capital Holiday Lights in the Park" begins tonight, November 25, 2011 and continues until January 2, 2012. The event will be open every night at 6:00pm. The event supports the Albany Police Athletic League (PAL)

The key to enjoying the lights is figuring out how you want to do it. Many people enjoy driving through the park in their warm cars playing Christmas music on the radio. Some people say the only true way to enjoy the lights its to do it walking, a long slow Christmas stroll. I on the other hand say, there is no way to do it, like a horse and buggy.

What could be more romantic than wrapping up in a blanket, sipping hot cocoa and listening to the clip clop of the horse's hooves on the ground. Like I said, everyone has their own favorite way to enjoy it and you should do it anyway you want, as long as you do it. It is a great cause and it is fun to appreciate the hard work put into the display.

Hannaford will also return as the exclusive outlet for special $10 advance discount tickets for the holiday lights event. Good for one carload, the advance $10 tickets can be purchased at the customer service desk at all Hannaford stores throughout the greater Capital Region.

The advance tickets are valid Monday through Wednesday throughout the holiday engagement. All proceeds benefit the Albany Police Athletic League.

I actually found a quick little video taken from the event last year, it's really not much of the full display and the play by play is a little less than professional, but maybe it will get you in the mood to do go see the lights tonight!

Merry Christmas!
