GE in Schenectady To Lay Off 35 Employees
Its always sad when you see good workers get laid off. Here is why GE is doing so.
Come April 35 employees who currently work in the Energy Storage unit also known as "Current". That is where they see over the battery plant. GE spokesman Nikolas Noel said it is part of a re-alignment process, according to the Times Union. Not only are 35 employees in Schenectady losing their position within the company but 6 more located at their fuel cell unit in Malta will be without work come April as well.
GE is allowing everyone who is losing work to apply for other positions within the General Electric family and they have until April to do so. I certainly myself wish luck to each and every one of those employees on being able to maintain a position there. The company is looking to reuse the battery plant for something else but nothing has been named yet. Hopefully it brings jobs back.
