Find Out Where Regular Big Game Hunting in NY to Wraps Up Sunday
As the snow begins to fall on an almost daily basis in the Adirondacks, hunters still on the search for that perfect prize, big game of the season are beginning to count their sunsets. 30 minutes after the big bright ball falls this Sunday, December 5th, a large section of New York's premier white tail deer and bear terrain will be shut down for for another season of regular hunting.
The Northern Zone of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation hunting map which includes the Adirondack Park, closes for regular deer and bear hunting on Sunday. Late bowhunting and muzzleloading season will begin in particular zones of the Northern Zone on Monday, December 6th, 30 minutes prior sunrise and end 30 minutes after sunset on December 12th. Be sure to check your zone regulations specific to this time period, especially for male or female deer harvesting in designated areas.

The Southern Zone, that encompasses almost everything south of the Adirondacks, except for New York City and Long Island, has an additional week of regular big game hunting season. The Southern Zone also has additional late bowhunting and muzzleloading weeks, as well, December 13th through the 21st and December 26th through January 1st. Again, please remember to check the regulations for the area that you are hunting, especially as you travel south in the Southern Zone.
Please remember to wear a fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink hat or vest when hunting deer or bear with a firearm. The DEC will bang you with a ticket if they see you without it. Why ruin a great trip! Good luck out there. Be safe and feel free to send us any pictures at charles.voelker@townsquaremedia.com.
