You may have to travel a few hours, but there is a place opening up this spring in New York state that will allow you to hold and feed real kangaroos. According to WKBW in Buffalo, Laura Kagels, an animal lover in Western New York, is opening up a kangaroo petting zoo sometime in the spring of 2020. She bought her first kangaroo three years ago and now she owns twelve. She wants to share her love for them with all who wish to come and experience these marsupials.

Laura usually takes the kangaroos on the road but wants to open up her own petting zoo called, "Niagara County Down Under" on her farm. She will build eight-foot-high fences around her two-acre site. But she won't be open nine to five. Laura says she will host private tours where people can bond with the kangaroos by feeding, holding, and petting them.

The petting zoo will open sometime late this spring. It will be about a five-hour drive from the Capital Region, but I think it's well worth it. Unless you travel to Australia, this is the only place you can snuggle kangaroos. Who's up for a road trip?
