‘Elves’ Enlisted to Help Safyre Sort Through Thousands of Cards
The world has shown its holiday spirit and made the Christmas of a local girl who lost her whole family to a fire two years ago extra special.
Safyre Terry, whose story warmed the hearts of millions globally, received so much mail after her story went viral last week that about 50 volunteers had to be enlisted to help sort through the packages and envelopes (see photos below).
In addition to greeting cards, toys and other gifts, a very special surprise came to the little girl on Monday in the form of a trip to Disney World, complete with front-of-the-line passes for all associated amusement parks, according to WNYT.
Safyre's story has touched people at opposite ends of the earth, including one little boy from Hong Kong who sent her his "favorite teddy." According to the Safyre Schenectady's Super Survivor Facebook page, the bear arrived safely in Schenectady this week.
