I was watching the Apprentice last nite, and got to thinking about  his trademark phrase, "You're Fired".  And then I seemed to recall that he actually owns that phrase, so I did some digging. The Donald DID indeed try several years ago to trademark that phrase for games, but the US Patent Office, according to contactmusic.com, said no.

There was another game already out there called "You're Hired" and they thought that there would be too much confusion over that.  There was also a pottery shop in Chicago called "You're Fired", and felt that "to me it's a livelihood, to him it's a slogan".

So I guess we're allowed to use the term freely.  I just hope your boss doesn't use it too freely.
