Local Country fans and Nashville are mourning the loss of Sue Bogucki, the Capital Region's biggest country fan.

It was very sad to hear the news today of Sue's passing. Whenever we lose someone in our country music family, it hit home, especially someone right here in our community. In all honesty, I did not know Sue as well as most. But in my 2 years at WGNA, I can honestly say I learned 2 things about her that were undeniable truths. First, she is one of the most passionate country fans I have ever met and probably will ever meet. If there was a country show, a national or local act, she was there supporting the music she loved.

Second, and most important, Sue had a big heart. Every year she donated her time to take calls during our St. Jude Country Cares For Kids Radiothon, and that is really all I needed to see as a testament to her character. Giving your time, to help others, speaks volumes about one's heart. It spoke volumes about Sue's character and at WGNA we will always remember her for all she gave to Country music and the Community.

Based on the reaction on social media today, that character not only touched so many on a local level, but it reached far and wide. William Michael Morgan, one of her favorite Country artists said it best.

Please join us in keeping Sue and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Her spirit will live on with Country fans throughout the Capital Region.
