Corey Feldman Visits Albany To Support Child Victims Act
The actor was at the Capital today to persuade lawmakers to pass the new Child Victims Act.
According to the Times Union, the actor was there to speak about child abuse to convince lawmakers to pass this act which would '...create a one-year period for alleged victims of sexual assault to file a lawsuit against their abusers or any organization that may have enabled the abuse.' The TU says the new act would also extend the current 5 year statute of limitations on prosecuting such cases. This statute begins when a child turns 18.
Feldman has said he was a victim of child sex abuse. You have to applaud Corey for making such a revelation to build awareness so parents and lawmakers can do everything possible to protect kids, but for also continuing to speak out against such a terrible crime.
The TU article says the State Assembly recently passed a version of the bill
