A family-owned Italian import store that has been a mainstay in Albany for over 75 years just announced a massive expansion deal that sources say will not only triple their size, but will also bring them into Latham and Saratoga Springs.

"We have some really BIG NEWS to share! Cardona’s Market is beyond excited to announce that we are expanding! We are adding a market location in Latham and Saratoga Springs!" -Cardona's Facebook.

Cardona's Market, the family-owned Italian foods market and catering company that has served the Capital Region since 1945, announced they bought out another local Italian import store that has been around nearly as long as them. According to the Times Union, Cardona's will be closing on a deal soon in which they'll acquire the two Roma Foods locations in Latham and Saratoga Springs.

According to the source, the deal would triple the size of Cardona's and give them the opportunity to serve the North Colonie and Saratoga Springs area of the Capital Region after serving primarily Albany for so many years. Cardona's told the Times Union that they plan on renovating the Latham location first and then next winter, focus on the Saratoga location.

“We knew we wanted to expand, and it made sense that rather than try to compete with (Roma), we could continue what they’ve been doing, build on it and introduce their customers to what we do,” said August Cardona (reported by the Times Union)
