Health officials are saying a 'gastrointestinal illness' affecting Capital Region residents could be cause by basil.

Have you been under the weather recently? If you eat fresh basil, it could be the reason why. According to a News 10 report, basil from iga Logistics S. de R.L de C.V of Mexico could be connected to some local residents coming down with the 'Cyclosporiasis illness.'  News 10 says symptoms of the illness include "watery diarrhea, and can include loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach cramps, bloating, nausea and fatigue." These symptoms usually pop up around 1 to 2 weeks after eating the affected food.

This is one of those things where it is better to be safe than sorry right,? So check out that produce to avoid possibly getting sick! If you have any basil at home, the basil in question was imported by iga Logistics S. de R.L de C.V of Mexico according to News 10 - so check yours out so you do not eat it!
