Bicycles are perfect for exploring things up close. Here's a chance for your to explore more with a free week-long test drive.

Capital Region Bikeshare Month kicked off in July and runs through August 15th 2014. The month includes a “Bikeshare Week” of short-term bikeshare pilot programs in the cities of Albany, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady and Troy.

Schenectady and Troy have already had their tries. The streets of Saratoga are being used for this week's pilot. Locations include Broadway at Division Street in Saratoga Springs where you can register. There are 25 bicycles available for use between 10am and 8pm.

Once registered, participants will receive an ID number allowing them to use the bikes and there is no cost, although a credit card will need to be on file as security for the bikes.  In addition, participants will need to sign a waiver and provide positive identification.

The final week of Bikeshare Month occurs in Albany's Washington Park from August 9-15.
