Brantley Gilbert Postpones European Tour Dates After Paris Attacks
Brantley Gilbert has postponed his upcoming European tour dates in response to the terrorist attacks that took place in Paris on Friday (Nov. 13).
Gilbert and his band launched the European leg of the Black Out Tour in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on Wednesday (Nov. 11). The tour has already visited Hamburg, Germany and Munich, Germany, but the singer-songwriter decided to pull the plug on a gig slated for Im Wizemann in Stuttgart, Germany on Saturday (Nov. 14), as well as upcoming shows in Scotland and England, after the horrifying events in Paris, where six precisely coordinated attacks took place, including a hostage situation at an Eagles of Death Metal concert. According to the Guardian, 129 are dead and another 352 are injured, with 99 of them listed in critical condition. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attacks.
“Out of respect for the lives lost in yesterday’s terrorist attacks, we have decided to postpone the rest of our European dates,” the "One Hell of an Amen" singer posted to Facebook on Saturday. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of France at this tragic time. WE WILL BE BACK.”
Gilbert was excited when he announced the tour in early November.
"If you’re gonna take it on the road, do it,” he said in a press release. “If you’re gonna push the music, don’t be afraid to put it out there. People around the world get the idea about what we do: these songs are about living life in hard places, but standing up when you do. That’s a universal thing, so let’s do it.”
No announcement has yet been made regarding the re-scheduled dates. Gilbert is scheduled to commence the North American leg of the Black Out Tour on Jan. 28, 2016 at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Mich., with dates slated to run through the end of April.
