How do you feel about stores opening on Thanksgiving night? Some shoppers see it as a great way to get started and save, while some employees are seeing it as having their Thanksgiving holiday ruined!

CNN reports that Thanksgiving Day openings have been a boost to retailers during the economic downturn. The number of people who shop on Thanksgiving rose to 22.3 million in 2010, about double the amount just five years earlier, according to the National Retail Federation.

However, some employees are being forced to give up quality time during Thanksgiving with their families, to sleep or prepare for an overnight shift at work. With some stores opening as early as 9pm on Thanksgiving night, employees like Anthony Hardwick will be forced to give up family time.  Hardwick is so upset that he's launched a petition called 'Tell Target To Save Thanksgiving.'  The main purpose of the mission is to convince the retailer to push the store opening back to Friday to allow workers to spend more time with family.

Do you think Anthony is right, or should he be thankful to have a job?  Please leave your comments below and let us know if you plan on shopping Thanksgiving night.
