I've been working with my trainer, Joe, at Best Fitness for about three months, so I started thinking about my progress and my goals for 2019. And I'm definitely not thinking about slowing down!

I'm getting stronger ... lifting more than I ever have in my life at age 45. While I've always maintained a pretty solid workout regimen, Best Fitness is pushing me in ways I've never been pushed before.

You may remember that I started with a hour-long health assessment, which included asking me about my goals and taking me through some basic exercises to see how I moved. (Read all about it here.) I have always been pretty good about cardio, but I really wanted to build some upper body strength. I was surprised at how high my body fat index had crept, but now that I'm three months in, I appreciate having all those stats so I can see how far I've come.

I could tell by Joe's reaction when we reviewed my progress that he was pretty proud of me, too. That felt good. Even little things like carrying in the groceries and wrestling with my 3-year-old son are easier now.

After being a little intimidated by the big box gym feel, I've come to the realization that the trainers, the clients and the people inside that place really do go out of their way to treat everyone in there like family — you're not a number at Best Fitness. They truly care about me.

It's super convenient. Joe always works with my crazy schedule to make sure sure that I can get in there as many times as possible and he really mixes up the workouts so I don't get bored. Also, the group classes are convenient as well, and there are lots to choose from!

Next up: The diet!  I know that at my age, diet is crucial to my overall performance at the gym and how I look and feel away from it. They're always staying on my case about eating right and making better food choices. That needs to come from ME, and I'm trying. They hold me accountable and make sure to keep motivating me. I appreciate that.

So, if you're thinking about getting back into working out or if you're wondering if you can make the time you spend working out more productive, I highly recommend giving Best Fitness a try.
